Hi, let me introduce myself. My name is Pat Mistretta and I am an artist and writer residing in Atlanta, Georgia. For 25 years I was a paralegal/legal assistant to major law firms in New York and Tampa, Florida, having raised my one daughter as a single-parent and sole breadwinner for over 18 years.
Many years ago, I left the legal profession to pursue my art and writing career. As a result of this major life transition and adjustment, I experienced numerous changes in my finances and lifestyle. The experiences and lessons learned taught me many things; more particularly, how to adjust and survive with major changes in finances, living situations, etc. It is because of today’s economic climate, that I felt compelled to write the book, “Surviving the Tough Times” to assist others who are experiencing financial hardships and major life changes.
I went through a lot of hard times and bad situations; more than I care to think of. But, do you know what? I came out of it. And, in doing so, I realized that what I learned could be passed onto those who find themselves in a similar situation. Regardless of age, or the reasons someone is struggling, the fact of the matter is their current situation is real to them.
Believe me, this is not a book from someone who has just researched materials. I have been there. I have walked the walk and I can tell you firsthand how difficult things can be. I know too, the fear, the anguish, and all those gut wrenching feelings that come from being in a situation like this.
Unfortunately, there is no one place for anyone in this situation to go to for answers on financial stress and immediate remedies. It was for this reason that I wrote this book. I wanted to inform the readers of the many options that are out there; be it downsizing, job placement, or getting assistance from the government or other not-for-profit agencies. This book encompasses the true problems for today's everyday person...with remedies. It is not about how to save your money, nor is it about investments plans, or cleaning with home products. This book is about surviving."
